This Thanksgiving I decided to do a new twist on an old standard.
Bacon Cheez-It Turkey Stuffing!
It's easy to make, and surprisingly good.
Ingredients
- 1 box of Cheez-It crackers (I chose the white cheddar).
- 1 bag onion ring snacks (Funyuns or Hawaiian Onion Rings)
- 1 pound of bacon (bacon ends works even better)
For Dressing Inside the Turkey
Slice bacon into halves. If using bacon ends, no need to slice. Fry the full pound of bacon, drain grease.
Combine half-box of Cheez-Its with full bag of onion ring snacks and the fried bacon into a mixing bowl. Stir all the ingredients well. Jam the mix into the turkey. Pack it in hard, don't worry about breaking the Cheez-Its or onion rings. Bake the turkey.
To Make Dressing Outside of the Turkey
Add 32oz of chicken broth into the above mix. Pour into a casserole dish, leave uncovered. Bake at 375F on middle rack, for 30 minutes.

The bacon makes this great because IT'S BACON!

The Cheez-It adds the bulk of the breading and a cheesy flavor.

The Onion Ring Snacks adds a garlic and onion seasoning.

The result is a cheesy, bacony, garlic and onion seasoned, stuffing that everyone will fight over!
If you're looking at these final photos and thinking this doesn't look too appetizing, you're right. It doesn't look anywhere as good as it tastes! Don't let that stop you, because it's amazing!
Happy Thanksgiving!
